Ariel Kahtan is a New York City-based artist who specializes in comics, illustration, and interactive motion graphics. Her zine Am I Home Yet? received two American Illustration 45 Awards. Am I Home Yet and her recently published zine Bodega Cat are distributed through Forbidden Planet, Printed Matter, Desert Island Comics, and other bookstores in New York City. Kahtan’s comic It Is What It Is runs monthly in The Red Hook Star-Revue and The Village Star-Revue. Her comic story Botanica was published in the anthology Real Life Comix, Only In New York.
Kahtan’s illustrations have been featured internationally in computer games, books, exhibits, and museum installations. Drawing upon her background as a UI/UX designer , she created the artwork, animations, and design for the game RRRRR, which is on display at the Futurium in Berlin. Her drawing Shalom/Salaam appears in the cartoon anthology Times Like These.
Kahtan holds a BFA from The Cooper Union, where she graduated in 2013.
