Berlin am Anfang

“Am Anfang” means “at the beginning” in German. In 2016, I packed two bags, left the city I’d lived in all my life, and moved to Berlin. These drawings are a reflection on the many poignant emotions I felt during my first year there: the loneliness and desperation of being someplace where I didn’t know anybody, as well as wonder and curiosity at all the new experiences I was having. Berlin has changed a lot since I made these, and I am happy I managed to capture this era before it ended.
