A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Bimah

This series of illustrations is for a book of synagogue anecdotes. My influences for this project were a mix of The New Yorker, Al Hirschfeld, and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. I had a religious Jewish upbringing, and as such, these illustrations came to me easily. I reached deep into my childhood memories in order to create each one, often utilizing reference photos from places such as Jewish delis in New York and my grandmother’s house.
